Scarlet-sided Pobblebonk

Scarlet-sided Pobblebonk (Limnodynastes terraereginae)

The Scarlet-sided Pobblebonk is a large Australian frog growing to around 75mm. They have a dark grey to brown back and may be mistaken for a Cane Toad. It’s call is similar to a banjo being plucked, a short ‘bonk’ or ‘dunk’. Eggs are layed in a white foam nest on the surface of the water, partially covered by leaf litter/over hanging plants. They are found in eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales.
