Rough Collared Frog (Cyclorana verrucosa)
The Rough Collared Frog is a member of the genus Cyclorana, and as such, is a burrowing frog. The frogs will burrow during the day and emerge to feed and breed after extended periods of rain. Native to Queensland and New South Wales, Australia, this frog is rotund with large eyes and grows to around 5cm long. The skin on the Rough Collared Frog is warty hence the name ‘Rough’. The Rough Collared Frog lays its eggs in large clumps. The tadpoles develop fast in the warmer months to avoid the result of water drying up, being death.
