Golden-tailed Gecko (Strophurus taenicauda)

Reptile

These good looking little guys have been described as one of the worlds most beautiful geckoes. Conservation Status – Near Threatened – Golden-tailed Geckoes are threatened by the clearing and destruction of its habitat. Vast areas of the Brigalow Belt have been historically cleared for agriculture, this has removed or fragmented much of the Golden-tailed Gecko’s habitat. Inappropriate fire and grazing regimes can also destroy habitat. It is suspected feral cats and foxes prey upon this species also.
